There is one rule that we are not capable or changing: money rules the world. No matter where you go, there will always be a currency you need to use if you want to buy something or if you want to do something. The entire society and humanity are based on money: with no money, you can survive and money define how high we live in the social pyramid. However, since that this is a place to think and i love to share thoughts, even the wildest ones, i am wondering: what if money didn’t exist?. How the world would be without dollars, euros or any other currenty on the planet?

Let’s imagine that we live in a world where money is not involved in any transaction and everything is for free. Every single thing you might think is now for free. Let’s have some fun (or get depressed) together, imagining a fantastic world like that.

Everything is available and possible.

Everything in your life is a cost right now. Every single thing you see. The wall and its colour, the window, the bed and everything you need to sleep, your house, your food, your clothes. Every single little object you see and use is there because a certain amount of money is invested to possess and use it.

The size, quality, and amount of things you can own are based on the amount of money available in your wallet or bank account. In fewer words, the more money you have, the better your life can be. But what if money as a concept disappeared overnight?

Well, let’s start saying that the range of the thing you can afford changes from 0 to 100 immediately. If you, the day before, had to decide between food or a something expencive (like a clothes, a videogame or a piece of forniture) the next day this compromise is no longer needed, because you can afford everything. Actually, you can walk outside your front door and come back owning a Ferrari, a Yatch, and all the Valentino’s clothes you want, because nothing would be expensive, because money doesn’t exist anymore.

Non only, you can afford every single object in the world, but you can also do whatever you want. Do you want to travel all over the world? Do you want to spend a weekend in the most beautiful holet in the world? Do you want to see the NBA finals at the front row? Why not! Everything is possible for you. The only thing that might stop you is the will to do that thing or if you have already something planned. if you are free and you want to do something badly, just book the flight, the room and the ticket and enjoy your life.

In some countries (well, in a lot of countries), the more money you have, the better medical treatment you receive. If a rich and poor are sick at the same time for the same illness, the rich will have access to a very expensive treatment, and the poor will easily die and suffer in the meantime.

A world without money it also means right to live. It is not fair that a rich person has more opportunities to be cured by a poor person. It is not right at all that a homeless person dies because of a simple cold, when the rich can be cured, only because the rich have money. Health should be free for everyone. It’s unfair to give a price to our lives.

Without money, everyone will have the opportunity to get the best possible medical treatment you can think of. Every single human being will have the opportunity to live longer and healthier. It doesn’t matter how and where this person lives. Between all the good things we can live without money, this one is by far the best one. Personally, i am fine living in a very humble way, because not everyone is in the position to be rich, but i am not be fine at all to suffer, because money are not enough to pay a medicine that would allow me to cure myself. Without money everyone can live healthy and the only way to die is because someone kills you…or because you are sick of something impossible to cure (unfortunately, the doctors can do miracles, but not all the time)

Equality.

Humanity says, since i remember, that “the world is not equal”, “rich people are richer and poor people are poorer” and “money belongs only to few people, while the rest of the world struggles!”. All these affirmations are right. I mean, the possession of money creates inequality. This is not a surprise: the more money you possess, the more you can afford it and the better your life can be.

Let’s imagine that money is not here anymore. We wake up one day and all the bank accounts of every single person and company are empty. What would we have? We would reach equality. With no money that creats differences in the population and all the inequality we face, there is no separation between a homeless and the richest person in the world because none of them has money. For example, i will be in the position to live Elon Musk’s life if i wanted to. However, it would be impossible because the only difference that would be between me and Elon would be wisdom, intelligence, knowledge and personality. But if we think of money, i could easily create the competition for X Space and i can go to Mars. Money does not play any kind of role anymore.

Companies also will not get any power anymore. With more money you can invest more and you can also use that more money to do something shady. About the last thing, i am not saying that companies now corrupt people to gain an unfair advantage, but they would have the financial possibility to do that. Without money, they could not gain any financial advantage. If you are a game developer, for example, you will have potentially the opportunity to compete against Rockstar since day one. The only difference between you and a huge sotware house is the creativity and the number of people working in a project, but you will not have any financial disadvantage. If you are capable of hiring the right people at the right place, you can become a whale pretty fast because you don’t need huge investments for all the software and hardware. You can have them for free.

No Poverty.

Poverty would be only a word that would belong to the past. In this world, being poor means that you have just enough money to survive. In the worst cases scenarios, you will have no money at all and society will force you to live on the street, eating what you can find and sleep where you can find a place. Most of the time you will be beaten by the people because they think you are not a human being anymore, but simply nothing.

Now imagine that money is gone. In that situation, everyone is rich and poor at the same time. A homeless person is rich as Jeff Bezos and Jeff Bezozs is poor as person. That would be crazy. Every single one of us might be in a position to do whatever we want, because money is no longer an obstacle between us and our happiness. we can own a house, have clothes and possess a car. The only problem would be to find a place for everyone. But nobody would say “i can’t afford it”, because you don’t need money.

working will always be with us.

Even if everything can be available and possible, working will be something we still need to do. Think about it. If you want to buy something, that something must be produced, transported and delivered to you. It means that people must still take care of the entire supply chain. The market will need people in the office and on the road. More than that, we still need doctors, firemen, policemen and if you want to eat something or do something, people must be there in order to let you do what you want.

The only advantage is that getting fired is not the end of the world. Once you lose a job, you can apply to another one and start once you signed another contract. Actually, you can even think about changing jobs to collect experience. You could work a couple of years there, another five years in another company and you can do that thing until you need to. You don’t need to work for decaded to get money, once you get old, because money are not necessary. That’s the amazing part. Maybe you can say, “i work there. Once i am bored, i quit and i learn something new.” Ehy, maybe i can go to university!” . Or you can even work for ten years and then say, “i retire, because i just can!” There is no need to think of “what would i do without a job?” .

With no money involved, you can also decide to work only three hours a day and the rest of the day do what you want. Maybe the rest of the day can be fulfilled by another person. A company can actually hire as many people as possible and let them work because salary would not be a reason to lose sleep.

One thing is for sure: without money, people can really focus on what they want and working will not be a duty, but a mission to accomplish, in order to feed the soul.

Without money, we could finally reach the happiness we all want. Our lives would be without any limit. Now we are limited by money. This is the only limitation we have. Once we take out that huge obstacle, the road will be straight and flat for every single one of us.
