Fame: Why Is It so Not Unwanted?

Maybe this is not a problem that involves us. Well, maybe might involve you, but definetely doesn’t involve me right now. However, never say never. It can be that one day, out on nowhere, i will become the greatest star on the planet. One side it will be awesome, because opportunity to grow and experience wonderful things will not miss, but on the other side, i would have resposanbilities and duties i have to fullfil. Right now i want to talk about the “dark side” of fame. I want to imagine myself in a position where i am very influent and i can change the market direction with only one word. What should i need to take care of?

A golden Cage.

If you are so big that you can move the market when you say something, it measn that you have tenths of millions of followers, maybe even hundreds of millions. In this contest, we are above great. This kind of community is absolutely mindblowing, so big that it’s even hard to understand. Maybe i will never get to that point, maybe i will, i have no idea. But let’s say i will, things can be pretty horrible.

Don’t get me wrong: having so much people paying attention of what you do or say is nice. If we talk about business, if you try to promote something, you will have an immediate success. With millions of followers, the money will come automatically…

However, when you are so influent and big, the attention can be a lot. At that stage, every single word must be well thought, every post must have a reason and you always walk on a very thin line, where falling is almost a certainty.

The bigger you become, the more attention you get. One side is good, because you can really make something great with every creative idea you have, but on the other side the freedom of speech you should have is not longer available for you. Think, for example, if you start a fight with another person. In that case, maybe that person might get hurt verbally or physically by your followers (because they want to protect you). Or think if you say something against someone and you are the black sheep. The consequences might be horrible.

You will be free to become rich and successful, but you will not have no right to say anything about something or someone. Trust me, it is nice be followed, but the responsability to do always the good thing is a pain in the butt.

you are not a human being.

Yes, technically you feel to be a human being. In truth, for the rest of the world, you are either a god, a good to be consumed or just a think you can use when you have time to waste. Think of every single people involved in entertainment. We don’t think they are people. We just use them for our entertainment. Why is that?

Because at a certain point onwards, there is no connection between followed and followers. How can Cristiano Ronaldo take contact with every single followed. We are talking about hundreds of millions of followers. A human being has only 24 hours a day. He, like every other superstar with a huge fanbase, has no time to interact with everyone. He/she can try, but it’s impossible.

In that moment, there will be a certain distance between superstar and community, where the community sees the followed like someone that maybe doesn’t even exist. With that distance and barrier, people feel protected and sure to do what they want, without any kind of consequences. With that in mind, people start to say every possible thing, both good and bad. At the end of the day, we still talk about two people (followed and follower) who have never met in real life. That’s the big problem with fame. The more people, the bigger the distance, so the bigger the danger of reading bad words.

no mistake allowed.

Logan Paul and Chiara Ferragni. I take this two big name as example of “don’t even think to make mistakes”. Logan Paul recorded a dead hanging body in the “forest of suicide” in Japan. Chiara Ferragni was accused of fraud, using sick childredn to make money. Both were big and both have made a huge mistake.

Logan Paul now has passed the storm and now he is better than ever (with his Prime and contract with WWE). Chiara, in the moment i am writing this post (25th January 2024) is not out. She is back on social media, but the mediatic attention is still big. Two huge personalities, with two big communities that has made a mistake that other people might have done as well. The problem they had? They are mediatic exposed. If they were unknown, nobody would have cared. They would have maybe escaped the problems, because nobody cared about them. But they are not unknown, they had tenths of millions of followers and the attention was very high.

Once you become big, there is no space for mistake, it doesn’t really matter if it is small, big or huge. For funny reason, you stop to be a human being and you are a machine. Everything you will do must be perfect, otherwise you will be in big trouble. In my opinion, it is very unfair to demand to all the celebritiy not to make any mistake. They are human being: of course they will make mistakes. They can be small or big, but they still make a wrong step. This is our nature.

jealousy.

The bigger you become, the more succes you can have, the money you will make and the better the lifestyle. It sounds amazing. The problem is that people will hate you. Well, you may say “i don’t care at all about those people!” and you should not pay attention. The problem is that on your social media account, people will start to tak trash against you, without any kind of regard of thing you just posted or created.

Humanity doesn’t like famous people. It likes even less those, who show their lifestyle. It is only about the fact that people are very jealous. They want to be you, but the can’t. So, they hate you, because you are living the life they want to live. It is not your fault if you succeed and they don’t, but they don’t care. For them you are useless, ridicolous and not worthy the time and the attention you are receiving.

We have seen how far jealousy can bring people. I mean, insults not only against the celebrity, but also the entire family is something we see on a daily basis. is it horrible? Yes, it is, but as long as humanity will exist, once you got famous, people will be mad of your success and jealous about the fact you have what they always wanted, but they will never had the opportunity to have.

final conclusions.

Being famous it is cool, because you will have opportunity and lot of money. However, the dark side is a very dark and can bring you to think bad things about you and humanity. If you want to become famous, you must also deal with the dark side of fame.
